The Ford Ironman
World Championship 70.3 earlier this month
culminated a series of events that featured
major events in the United States like Eagleman,
Buffalo Springs, St. Croix, California or
Florida, as well as from across the world.
Events were held in places like Monaco, Austria,
Germany, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia,
South Africa, to name just a few.
All
the athletes, who earned their spot at one
of the more than 20 qualifying events around the
world, with 50 - 100 qualifying slots per race,
travelled to beautiful Clearwater to test
themselves against the best in the world.
Stafford Tri had 4
members competing, all of whom qualified at Monaco
in September
for the World Championship 70.3:
Louise
Tomkinson-Hill (left, front)
Nicholas Tomkinson-Hill (left, back)
Stuart Turner (centre)
Mark Harries (right)
They were also
able to enjoy the incredible beauty of the area.
Set on
the
Gulf Coast
on Florida’s west
coast, Clearwater and its island beaches are one
of America’s most popular vacation spots.
The race was Half
Ironman Distance of 1.2 Mile Sea Swim, a 56 Mile
Bike Ride and a 13.1 Mile (Half Marathon) Run.
There were nearly 2000 competitors in total.
